YFU Scholarships
American Overseas programs offer US high school students and recent graduates the opportunity to experience the world firsthand. By going abroad with YFU USA, you will live in a totally new culture - not as a tourist - but as a member of a family. Choose from over 100 programs in more than 30 countries to learn a new language and global perspective while on an academic year, academic semester, or summer program.
Conditions
Eligibility:
Generally, applicants must:
1.
Be between the ages of 15 and 18.
2.
Maintain a minimum 3.0 GPA for a year or semester program or 2.0 GPA for a summer program.
3.
Be in good health.
4.
Complete some additional paperwork.
5.
Have a medical exam.
6.
Submit photos.
7.
Be interviewed by a YFU volunteer.
8.
For most YFU countries, you don't need to know the language, although some countries do require previous language study.
Application Deadline:
1.
Most applications are due in December, although some have an October or January deadline.
2.
Your completed application must be postmarked by the date indicated on the individual Scholarship Information Sheets.
Application Fee:
1.
Many scholarships have an application fee.
2.
Please see the individual Scholarship Information Sheets to determine if the scholarship you are applying for has a fee.
3.
Only one application fee is required if you are applying for multiple scholarships.
