Distinguished Teaching of Art Award

The Distinguished Teaching of Art Award, established in 1972, is presented by the CAA (College Art Association) to an individual who has been actively engaged in teaching art for most of his/her career.



Conditions

1.
This award is presented to an artist of distinction who has developed a philosophy or technique of instruction based on his/her experience as an artist; has encouraged his/her students to develop their own individual abilities; and/or has made some contribution to the body of knowledge loosely called theory and understood as embracing technical, material, aesthetic and perceptual issues.
2.
You should contact ten colleagues, students, peers, collaborators, and/or co-workers of the nominee to write letters of support as well.
3.
The different perspectives and anecdotes from the multiple letters of nomination provide the committees with clearer pictures of the qualities and attributes of the candidates.
4.
In the letter, state who you are; how you know (of) the nominee; how the nominee and/or his or her work or publication affected you, your studies, and/or the pursuit of your career; and why you think this person (or, in a collaboration, these people) should be recognized.
5.
Each nomination should include a c.v. (limit two pages), a nomination form, and the ten letters of support. These letters are particularly important for the jury because of the personal contact involved in successful teaching.
6.
Applications for the 2008 Awards must be received by August 31, 2007 at CAA (College Art Association).
