In 2003 CAA's Board of Directors approved the establishment of a new award of distinction, the Distinguished Lifetime Achievement Award for Writing on Art. This award celebrates the career of an author of note, and includes art criticism, art history, art biography, and/or art theory.

Conditions

1.
The award is presented by the CAA (College Art Association)to an author who, among other distinctions, has demonstrated particular commitment to his or her work throughout a long career and has had an impact, nationally and internationally, on the field.
2.
You should contact five to ten colleagues, students, peers, collaborators, and/or co-workers of the nominee to write letters of support as well.
3.
The different perspectives and anecdotes from the multiple letters of support provide the committee with clearer picture of the qualities and attributes of the candidate.
4.
Each nomination should include a C.V. (limit two pages), a nomination form, and up to ten letters of support.
5.
Letters of support are important for reference, but the awards decisions are the responsibilities of the juries based on their expert assessment of the qualifications of the nominees.
6.
Applications for the 2008 Awards must be received by August 31, 2007 at CAA.
