Ruthning Memorial Scholarship

This scholarship is designed to enable a final year LLB student to complete the program. It was established in 1960 by a legacy of $4,000 given by Miss E.S.D. Ruthning, representing $2,000 from her estate and $2,000 from the estate of her sister Miss V.E.M. Ruthning, in memory of their father H.L.E. Ruthning, a Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Queensland.



Value

The scholarship amount shall be such as is sufficient to enable a scholar to carry out the purpose for which the award is made.

Conditions

1.
This scholarship is open to candidates for the degree of Bachelor of Laws who:

will enrol during the award year as a full-time student in courses which will complete the program.
*
have a total value of not less than 12 units.
*
Is expected to obtain the degree with honours.
2.
Otherwise, the scholarship may be given for one or two years to a graduate in law to enable the candidate to pursue a course of postgraduate study or research.
3.
Selection is on the basis of academic merit and need.
4.
Tenure is dependent on satisfactory progress.
