Islamic Jerusalem Prize for Young Scholars Empty Islamic Jerusalem Prize for Young Scholars

Value

The winner of the Prize receives a certificate and a cash prize. In addition the last three winners were invited to present a paper at the international academic conference on Islamic Jerusalem Studies.

Conditions

To apply for this Prize the candidate must fit the following criteria:-

1.
The Candidate shall be under the age of forty (ie: born after the year 1967).
2.
The Candidate should at least hold a second upper Honours degree in an appropriate discipline. (Preference will be given to candidates who hold postgraduate qualification in Islamic jerusalem Studies).
3.
The Candidate should have published/ unpublished papers, books/ monographs, etc. in Islamic jerusalem Studies


Applications can be made by submitting (non returnable):

1.
A letter to the Secretary-General of ISRA explaining why the candidate should be granted the Islamic jerusalem Prize for young researchers.
2.
The Candidate should send three copies of his/her submission (including published, unpublished papers, books and monographs, etc...) on Islamic jerusalem Studies*.
3.
Three copies of the Candidate's Curriculum Vitae (CV).
4.
A copy of the Candidate's birth certificate.
5.
The names, addresses, telephone numbers and e-mail addresses of two academic referees.

Winners

1997
The Prize Committee of the Academy decided to award the 1997 Islamic jerusalem Prize for Young Scholars to Dr. Muhsin Saleh -assistant professor at the International Islamic University in Malaysia-, for his book "The Road to Jerusalem"

1999
The Management Committee decided that the prize went to: Mr. Haithem al-Ratrout -one of the winners of the PhD Scholarships the academy' offers-, for his Master thesis "a New Theory to Explain the Architectural Design and Planning of the Dome of the Rock". It was later published by ISRA in 2002.

2003
In 2003 the Management Committee decided that the prize went to: Dr. Othman Al-Tel -one of the winners of the PhD Scholarships the academy' offers-, for his PhD thesis "The First Islamic Conquest of Aelia (Islamic Jerusalem); a Critical Analytical Study of the Early Islamic Historical Narratives and Sources", published in 2003.

2005
In 2005 the Management Committee decided that the prize went to: Dr. Maher Abu Munsharl -one of the winners of the PhD Scholarships the academy' offers-, for his PhD thesis "A Historical Study of Muslim treatment of Christians in Islamic jerusalem at the time of Umar Ibn al-Khattab and Salah al-Din with special reference to Islamic value of Justice ".
