The 17th International Book Festival Budapest, which is taking place from 22 to 25 April 2010, has acquired major importance on the international book market. It is one of the most important forums in the region -- not only in cultural and intellectual terms but also from an economic point of view - and attracts between 50,000 and 60,000 visitors each year. This year, for the first time, the Book Festival will include an antiquarian book fair.

The Book Fair, which will have around 270 exhibitors from 25 countries, lasts four days. The extensive programme, featuring many famous authors from all over the world, makes the Book Fair an attractive cultural event and demonstrates the highly international focus. Highlights of the event include the European First Novel Festival, which is being jointly organised by the 19 countries of the EU. Like Frankfurt Book Fair, each year is dedicated to the literature of one particular country. This year, that country will be Israel and guest of honour will be the author Amos Oz.

The Librarians’ Club, an event for librarians from all over the world lasting several days, has also established itself as a permanent feature of the International Book Festival Budapest and could be of particular importance for the antiquarian book fair.

The Fair will be held inside an extensively renovated former industrial building, “Millenáris”, now a modern cultural and leisure centre with exhibition halls, galleries and cafe in a central location of Budapest. "
