ORSAS: Overseas Research Students Awards Scheme
ORSAS awards offer international postgraduate students the opportunity to carry out a broad range of research at well-established UK academic institutions of worldwide recognition. ORSAS award holders make a valuable contribution, not only to the British research base, but also to economic, scientific, educational and other aspects of life in their own country.
Value
1.
ORSAS awards provide funding to pay the difference between the international student tuition fees.
2.
The home/EU student tuition fees charged by the academic institution that the student attends.
3.
ORSAS awards do not cover the home/EU fee element, maintenance or travel expenses.
Conditions
1.
The only two criteria for winning an award are:

Academic ability.
*
Research potential.
2.
Other factors, such as: proposed field of study, financial status, nationality, ethnicity, gender, age, disability, sexual orientation, religion/belief, marital status or any other inappropriate distinctions, will not be taken into account.
3.
ORSAS supports only full-time postgraduate research students.
4.
If you are intending to take an undergraduate or taught postgraduate course you will not receive an ORS award.
Please note that to be eligible to apply for an ORS award:
1.
You must be liable for the overseas fee.
2.
You must be of outstanding merit and research potential.
3.
You must not have already been awarded a PhD or equivalent degree.
4.
You must not have held an ORS award before.
5.
The Department or School in which you wish to study must support your application.
